Free community meals to be served Friday at First Christian Church – BG Independent News

The First Christian Church of Bowling Green, 875 Haskins Road, will serve its monthly community drive-thru meal on Friday, August 12, from 5-6 p.m. As part of FCC’s food mission, this community meal is free and available to anyone who needs a meal.

Last month, 134 meals were served, a record to date.

This month’s menu includes ham, cheese potatoes, a vegetable, a bun and butter and a cookie.

In addition to the meal, bags of food will be distributed, provided by St. Thomas More University Parish and the BG Christian Food Pantry. Attendees are also offered a variety of breads and pastries provided by the Bowling Green Christian Food Pantry.

The toiletries pantry will be available through the generosity of the First Presbyterian Church.

Volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provide assistance at the event, including distributing food bags and bread/pastries.

All are welcome and there is no charge for meals, food bags, toiletries or breads and pastries.

Joining the Minimal Contact Dinner is easy. Participants must arrive between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the church parking lot and stay in their car. Volunteers will take their orders, hand-deliver meals, and direct them to bread and pastries. COVID precautions should be followed, especially for those who have not received the vaccine.
