Governor Bala Offers Condolences to Christian Community as Bauchi CAN President Loses Wife
The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir, extended his condolences to the Christain community in the state as the President of the Bauchi State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Reverend Dr Abraham Damina Dimeus lost his wife, Mrs Mercy Dimeus, on Saturday.
The late Mrs. Mercy Dimeus passed away in the early hours of last Saturday at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) after a long illness.
According to reports, the last Ms Mercy had traveled to Kaduna for the annual conference of Northern Baptist ministers’ wives from where she fell ill and had to be rushed back to Bauchi last Wednesday for medical treatment at the ‘ATBUTH.
She, however, died while receiving medical treatment, leaving behind her husband and children.
The Governor during a condolence visit to the CAN President’s Bishara Baptist Church residence expressing his shock at the monumental loss of a dear wife and companion, describing the death of the wife of the President of the CAN as very devastating and too sudden given her support for her husband’s ministry.
The Governor further emphasized that the contributions of the deceased to the promotion of peace and unity will forever be remembered and cherished.
Accompanied by PDP State Chairman, Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam among other dignitaries, the Governor appreciated the rectitude of the CAN Chairman praying for God to grant him the courage to bear the irreparable loss.
In his response on behalf of the state’s Christian community, CAN Secretary Reverend Mathew Wakili Laslimbo commended the Governor for having time despite his tight schedules to come and offer his condolences to the immediate family. and to all Christians in the state.
The CAN Secretary described the visit as a boost to morale not just for the bereaved CAN President, but for all who mourn the monumental loss of a dear wife and mother to all.
He said that the Christian community, although in mourning, accepted the development based on the teaching of the Holy Bible that in every situation believers should give thanks to God.
