Arklow Christian Community Church is set to move its congregation and Sunday outreach event to April
Arklow Christian Community Church will soon have a permanent building to continue its support of the local community, which is featured monthly at its Super Sunday outreach event.
he non-denominational church plans to move from Glenart College to the former nuns’ chapel on St Mary’s Road over the Easter weekend in April.
Solomon Aroboto, pastor of the Christian Community Church, said, “This is a non-denominational church open to everyone. People of all races, classes and creeds are welcome.
Since 2014, the Christian Church has organized the Super Sunday Community Outreach event to support community groups in Arklow and surrounding areas.
The church provides financial support to groups that add value to Arklow and strive to help people.
Pastor Aroboto said he started this event because “people don’t care what you know until they know how much you care.”
He added: “Saying we will pray for you is not enough, all we can do as a group is the most important thing.”
The Super Sunday event takes place on the last Sunday of each month at Glenart College at 10.30am.
“The event is not a fundraiser as our donations come from our own church fundraiser,” Pastor Solomon said.
“We choose a group each month, and at the event the group speaks for ten minutes, explaining what they do and the issues they face.
“Everyone gets a free lunch, which is premium food, and after the conversation, we chat and communicate with each other,” he added.
For the past two months, the Church of Aroboto has been assisting Arklow Cancer and East Coast Samaritans.
However, the Super Sunday event has contributed to a wide variety of bands since it started from Meals on Wheels, Men’s Shed, Tidy Towns and Arklow Aging to Loaves and Fishes, The Vault Youth Centre, Teen Challenge, Arklow CBS and Glenart College.
“We want to show the love of Christ in a practical way and not just in words.” said Aroboto
“90% of the people who attend are from Arklow, they are from the city, so everyone who comes knows someone. It’s a friendly atmosphere and there is no great formality.
The next Super Sunday will take place on Sunday, March 27.
