Police Confirm Receipt of Threatening Letter Against Zamfara Christian Community –
Zamfara Police confirmed receipt of a threatening letter to the Christian community from armed bandits suspected of closing churches in the state in the next three years or risking fierce attacks
The suspected gunmen also list some churches on the outskirts of the state capital that will be attacked during church activities before the end of the year.
The police command said it had opened an investigation into the case to arrest the perpetrators.
State Police Commissioner Ayuba Elkanah revealed this during a press conference in Gusau, the state capital.
According to CP Elkanah, the letter was left at the front door of Zamfara State Police Command by unidentified people
He says that after careful study of the letter, the command briefed church leaders on the development
He urged Christians in the state to remain calm as the command is on top of the situation and will continue to provide security at all places of worship.
Police also arrested twelve suspected gunmen who attempted to ambush police troops while on patrol in Bargaja community in Gusau local government area.
Among the suspects are youths under 20 who beheaded innocent people along the Gusau – Tsafe road
Three kidnapping victims were also rescued in an attempted kidnapping in the Talata Mafara local government area of the state
Locally made rifles, magazines, more than five hundred live ammunition, cutlasses and knives with bloodstains, clubs and other weapons were recovered from the suspects.
