Niles First Christian Church Gives Gifts to Foster Children

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – Members of a church in Niles make sure children in foster homes have gifts under the tree this Christmas.

The First Christian Church congregation purchased gifts for the 24 children currently in Cadence Care Network foster homes.

Agency employees picked up the gifts from the church on Wednesday morning. They have taken the gifts back to their office in Niles where the adoptive parents will pick them up to take them home.

Foster family supervisor Alicia Patel said she is grateful to the church for ensuring the foster children have a memorable holiday.

“We have a teenager. She’s 16 and she told us she hadn’t celebrated Christmas in five years, so stories like that where our children may not have had the best holiday memories, we want to be able to bring that joy in their lives,” Patel said. .

First Christian Church has been a partner of Cadence Care Network for several years.

In the past, the congregation has donated Easter baskets as well as new pajamas for children who have just entered foster care.

The Cadence Care network is looking for more people who would like to become foster parents. If you are interested, you can call the Cadence Care Network at 330-544-8005 to find out how to become a foster parent.
