SAD asks Kejriwal to apologize to Christian community for demolition of church in Delhi

New Delhi / Chandigarh, Jul 21 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday called on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to apologize to the Christian community for demolishing his church in South Delhi and demanded that the church be rebuilt immediately on the same site.
A high-level delegation of SAD MPs – Balwinder Singh Bhundur, Professor Prem Singh Chandumajra and Naresh Gujral visited the church site and expressed shock at how the holy site had been desecrated by the Aam party government Aadmi (AAP).
The delegation, which met with the priest of Little Flower Church, Father Jose, also told him about President SAD Sukhbir Singh Badal’s feelings and assured him that the party would also raise the issue in parliament.
Father Jose, for his part, informed the delegation that the Delhi government had pasted a notice on the church premises on July 9, a Friday, and then demolished it two days later, on Monday July 12. .
“We deliberately did not have time to seek redress in court,” said Fater Jose, adding that the notice posted at the scene was for a temple and not for the Little Flower Church.
Informing the media on the matter, MPs said the demolition of a minority community’s place of worship proved Kejriwal to be “anti-minority”.
Mr Naresh Gujral said: “It has also been proven that Kejriwal was in fact the B team of the BJP.
He condemned the desecration of statues on the church site.
Professor Chandumajra said it was reprehensible that the church’s file had not been reviewed. He said it was a fact that church authorities bought land from the gram sabha to build a church. “Such a structure cannot be destroyed arbitrarily”, he declared while calling it an attack on religious freedom as it is enshrined in the constitution.
Mr. Balwinder Bhundur said the demolition of a church was also an attack on the secular credentials of the country.
“Secularism is in danger and we must all unite to protect it,” he said.
He said the SAD would join the Christian community to campaign for the rebuilding of the church at the same location.
They said the demolition of the church had also “exposed Kejriwals’ duplicity”.
‘AAP claims to work for the welfare of the Punjab but has always pursued an anti-Punjab agenda, whether that is demanding a share of the state’s river waters for Delhi and Haryana, asking the court in register criminal proceedings against farmers in Punjab for burning stubble and even trying to force the closure of thermal power plants in Punjab. Now we have seen the AAP following the policy of majoritarianism in Delhi by ordering the demolition of the Little Flower Church. This is proof that the AAP also believes in the systematic subjugation of minority communities. ”
